Welcome to the Lysefjord Center
The Lysefjord Centre is the natural starting point for experiencing Rogaland’s most iconic fjord landscape. The centre is located at the entrance to the Lysefjord and the famous Pulpit Rock (Preikestolen) area, and serves as a vibrant visitor and information hub for both travellers and local residents.

Around the center, majestic mountain walls, a mirror-like fjord, and the ever-changing western Norwegian light await, making every visit unique.
The building also houses a cozy café serving simple, local flavors, a shop with a selection of hiking gear and souvenirs, as well as convenient facilities such as restrooms and seating areas. Lysefjord Center is a place to pause and be inspired – before or after heading out into the spectacular landscape.

The Lysefjord Centre
Introduction
At the Lysefjord Centre, visitors find a complete starting point for exploring Lysefjord. Educational exhibitions, hiking information, guided experiences and practical facilities are combined here – all gathered in one place, easily accessible for both locals and travellers.
Hiking opportunities and tips
The centre provides up-to-date information on popular hikes such as Preikestolen, Kjerag and Flørli, as well as gentler nearby walks for families and beginners. Staff help with choosing routes based on weather, season, experience and time available, and offer advice on safety, necessary equipment and transport to and from the starting points.
Guided tours and activities
The Lysefjord Centre collaborates with experienced guides who offer tours to, among other places, Preikestolen and other viewpoints, both on foot and by boat on the fjord. In season, visitors can join themed tours focusing on geology, cultural history or photography, as well as family-friendly programmes with an emphasis on play and learning in nature.
Practical information
The Lysefjord Centre offers clearly signposted parking for both cars and buses, with a short walking distance to the entrance. The building is adapted with step-free access, an elevator and accessible toilets. Opening hours vary somewhat with the season, but the centre is mainly open daily during the summer season and with reduced hours for the rest of the year. At the reception, visitors receive help with tickets, maps, brochures and questions about both the centre and the surrounding area.
